The first clue taken from the surveillance video was the red van seen parked outside the house. Described as "1970s or 1980s" red van, tips rolled in from community members and eventually led to the 15-passenger van that sat behind a mobile home, owned by Leonard P. Gonzalez Sr., the father of Leonard Patrick Gonzalez Jr., and Carol S. Brant. After securing some possible evidence from inside the van, and around the mobile home, the police zeroed in on a few persons of interest.
