On Tuesday, police confirmed reports that a newborn girl was found on a doorstep in Wayne County, approximately 45 minutes from Jessie's home.  The baby's umbilical cord was still attached — tied at the end with a rubber band.  According to doctors, she was born in a home birth.  She weighs about six pounds and was less than one day old when she was found.

Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department refuse to speculate on whether or not the baby is Jessie's, pending the result of DNA swabs that were taken from the baby.  Experts say it could take up to one week for the results to come back.

On June 15, Jessie's mother, Patty Porter, made a troubling discovery when she went to visit Jessie.  Upon entering her daughter's house, she found her two-year-old grandson, Blake, home alone.  He was wearing a dirty diaper, and the house was in a state of disarray.  Jessie, who is nine months pregnant, was due to give birth any day.  Despite a massive search and an ongoing investigation, police remain stumped by her disappearance.

Jessie is described as a white female, 5-feet-4 inches tall, 135 pounds, with blond hair and hazel eyes.  She is nine months pregnant.  Anyone with information should contact the Stark County Sheriff's Office at 330-430-3818 or via the online tip page at http://www.sheriff.co.stark.oh.us/mr070616%20etip.htm.  If you know Jessie personally or have any information relevant to the case, please e-mail David Lohr at crimewriter74@hughes.net.
