Larry Craig

Larry Craig, the second-longest serving Senator from Idaho, knows a thing or two about Congressional page sex scandals. In 1982, when Craig had been a first-term Republican House member, CBS News reported allegations of 17-year-old page Leroy Williams that he had had a series of homosexual encounters with three House members. Out of 435 Representatives, Craig was the only one the next day to publicly declare that he'd had no contact with the page and said the charges by Williams were "part of a concerted effort at character assassination."

The only problem? No one had named Craig in the affair. His reaction against the press, though, would be repeated 25 years later, after his arrest and guilty plea for homosexual lewd conduct in a Minneapolis airport restroom became public.
