It was during my conversation with Mike that he received word the car was spotted somewhere in North Carolina. He expressed disbelief at the report and abruptly ended the conversation. I then called Tim Miller and he was able to verify the information. The helicopter the family contracted with had found the car submerged in a body next to I-95. Within 20 minutes, we received word that both bodies were found inside the vehicle.
According to the State Law Enforcement Division, the Mazda had hit a guardrail and careened off the road before sliding over an embankment and landing in the swamp.

"You just hope they didn't suffer and that it was quick," Daniel Rodriguez, the couple's son-in-law, told the New York Daily News. "Everybody is destroyed and devastated."

Wayne Guay was a retired New York City Department of Sanitation employee, and Dianne Guay worked part time at the Family Dollar in Horry Count. A memorial service is planned for later this week.
