DICKINSON, Tex. (Crime Library) —It has been nearly a month since 16-year-old Terresa L. Vanegas was murdered and her family is beginning to lose hope her killer will ever be caught.  I have been personally involved in this case since the beginning and I am in contact with the family on a daily basis.  I've logged hundreds of hours, tracking down leads and gathering new clues.  While I cannot yet share everything with you, I can fill you in on some very interesting things I have learned about Terressa's final hours and about the Dickinson Police Department.

Before I get into the police department's investigation, or lack there of, I will go over some new details I have uncovered regarding Terressa's final hours.  As I previously reported, she hung out with one of her best friends after school that day.  The two teens spent several hours together at the Fiesta Trailer Park in Dickinson.  According to her friend, at one point she saw Terressa talking with an "older" man about getting a ride to Abilene, Texas.  As I pointed out in my last two stories, she wanted to go there so she could meet a 19-year-old man named Ambroso, whom she had met through the Internet website Dope House Records.  During the conversation, the man allegedly made an off color remark, which angered Terressa and she abruptly ended the conversation.  It was shortly after this that Terressa went to another friend's house off of California Street, in Dickinson, where she hung out for several hours.

Around 10:00 p.m., Terressa phoned Ambroso and told him she was having difficulty finding a ride.  She also mentioned that she was going to stop at a local gas station and pick up a map, so that she would know how to get there if she found a ride.

It was previously thought that the last confirmed sighting of Terressa was between 11:15 and 11:30 on Halloween night, when a friend's mom saw her walking down California Street.  However I have since learned of two more sightings.  The first was mentioned in my last story and that was the sighting at the Texaco station, which is located at 4921 FM 517.  However, since then I have learned that she was also spotted at a party on Bramble Street in Dickinson, which is not far from where her body was found.  However it is not known if she went to the party first or the Texaco gas station.  I spoke with a friend of Terressa's on Friday and she placed Terressa at the Bramble Street party between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.  She also said she saw Terressa standing in front of the house speaking with an "older" man.  However she did not get a very good look at the man and she left shortly afterwards.  It is not known whether Terressa left with the man she was speaking with, however I have been unable to locate anyone who saw Terressa after that conversation took place.
