Yesterday afternoon, Judd held a second press conference, updating the media on the status of the case.

"He looked for an area to dump her, and for that, we're grateful," Judd said. "We're grateful that he took her to a populated area, but it does not lessen our desire to take William Joe Mitchell, known as Billy Mitch, into custody. Quite frankly, we're thankful that he didn't kill her. That was our greatest fear. As you know, as these events go on, the longer we are without finding the victim, the greater the chance that they become a victim of a homicide. So truly, this is a blessing from God today that she is alive."

Judd would not comment on whether Alyssa had been assaulted during the ordeal. However, he did say she was "all right." In regard to Mitchell, he made it clear that even though Alyssa was safe, his department would continue to do everything in its power to locate Mitchell.

"We want him. We want him very badly, and we want him in custody. That's why we still ask for the community to help us. Look, for this vehicle. Dial 911 on your cell phone. We'll immediately have law enforcement officials respond to the area and take him into custody...It's reported to us that he does have a firearm. We know that he's dangerous. We know that he has a violent past."

It is interesting to point out that on the day Alyssa disappeared, a new Florida law went into effect, requiring sex offenders to register their email addresses and instant message screen names with law enforcement. The law also raised the maximum sentence for soliciting minors to 15 years imprisonment.
