In the days since Michelle vanished, police have been working furiously, expressing the hope as late as yesterday that she might still be alive, and hoping to locate her while at the same time trying to develop a detailed time line of her movements in those last few moments before she vanished.

Much of their attention has been focused on Rooney, "a random guy" as one of her friends described him, who had accompanied Michelle at least part of the way on her walk toward her dorm early last Saturday morning.
On Thursday, authorities released surveillance photos of Michelle and Rooney whom they did not identify and described not as a suspect in her disappearance but as "a significant focus," of their probe into her fate and on Friday, they released photographs of his car, a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with gray trim and black paint on its tailgate and Vermont plates.
