SOWETAN, South Africa — Police have uncovered the remains of four women at two sugarcane plantations on the KwaZulu—Natal South Coast, suggesting that a serial killer may be responsible for the deaths. According to Umzimkhulu police spokesman Superintendent Zandra Hechter, one of victims had been beheaded. "A postmortem was conducted and showed that the women were strangled and possibly raped," Hechter told Sowetan.co.za, adding: "We are following up certain leads that could shed light on the murders." The investigation continues.

AUSTRALIA— Convicted serial killer Ivan Milat has written a letter to state Attorney General John Hatzistergos, warning that Milat will go on a hunger strike unless he is given more privileges in prison. In the three-page letter, Milat wrote: "I can only assume that because of your influence I will never be given a job or any possible exit program, and it's your wish that I just sit and rot here." In response to the article, Hatzistergos told the Herald Sun he is not going to be intimidated by the Milat's threats. "He's there as a consequence of his own actions, and he'll remain there," Hatzistergos said. Milat is serving a life sentence in Goulburn's Supermax Jail for seven counts of murder.
