RAHWAY, N.J. — In 2002, suspected serial killer Robert Zarinsky was acquitted in reference to the 1958 murder of a Rahway police officer Charles Bernoskie.  Following the trial, the officer's widow, Elizabeth Bernoskie, took Zarinsky to civil court, and won a judgment.  She was awarded $150,000, which she divided between her adult children.  In an unexpected decision, an appeals court has ruled in Zarinsky's favor, and ordered Bernoskie to return the money.  According to Bernoskie, the money has already been spent.  "I don't know what I am going to do," Bernoskie said in an interview with The Star-Ledger.  "It is so horrible.  I don't know where to turn, who to talk to.  I have to digest it, but I don't want to digest it."  Zarinsky has been behind bars since 1975, when he was convicted of murdering 17-year-old Rosemary Calandriello.  Police suspect Zarinsky is responsible for a series of murders of teenage girls during the 1960s and '70s.
