"It was suspicious that she didn't call, and that the message was in all caps. Her family says she doesn't text like that," Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino told The Associated Press.
Donna's family reported her missing on June 25. When investigators inspected her computer, they discovered that she had been talking with a man she had met through Craigslist.org, an urban community used primarily for the posting of classified advertisements. Visitors to the website can find everything from bikes and boats to hookers and johns. The website is, for lack of a better word, diverse.

The man who Donna had met online purported to go by the name Kyle or Skinny Puppy. He had sent her a photo of himself, but investigators later determined that the photo was not the man who had picked Donna up at her house. Instead, it is believed that it was another man, John Steven Burgess, aka Sinjin Stevens, and that he had used the photo to lure Donna to the party.

Upon further investigation, police determined that Burgess was renting a West Los Angeles area house. When investigators questioned Burgess's roommates, they were able to confirm that Donna had been there on the night of June 23. However, none of them has seen Donna or Burgess since that night.
Of further concern is the fact that Burgess is a convicted sex offender who was convicted of performing a lewd act against a child in 2003 and of three counts of battery in 2002.
