Yesterday, Hackel held a news conference to update the media on the status of the investigation.
He said:
"We hope that everyone would understand that we are going to be extremely aggressive; we're going to ask them the tough questions, and we're hoping we get those answers," Hackel said. "We want those answers as quickly as possible and not where we have to fax questions over to an attorney's office, wait until they are ready to answer them and then fax them back."
Hackel also discussed Stephen Grant's criminal record, which includes multiple traffic violations and a failure to obtain a gun permit. It is not clear why Hackel brought up those violations or how they might relate to Tara's disappearance.

Following the press conference, Tara Grant's mother, Mary Destrampe, spoke with ClickOnDetroit.com. During the brief interview, Destrampe said she missed her daughter and wanted her to come home.
"I feel helpless. I don't know what to do," Destrampe said. "There isn't anything I can do except get the word out. I keep praying every day, all day long that she'll just phone call me and I can hear her voice."
Stephen Grant recently hired a retired FBI agent to work as a private investigator. He has also worked with Tara's family to canvass nearby neighborhoods and to distribute missing persons flyers.

Stephen Grant reported his wife missing on Feb. 14. According to statements made by Grant, the couple had an argument on the night of Feb. 9. about Tara's job with an international construction contractor and the amount of time she was spending away from him and their two young children. Grant said that, following the argument, at about 11:15 p.m., his wife walked out of the house, got into a dark sedan, and vanished. Authorities have no clues regarding her disappearance.
