RICHMOND (Crime Library) — Authorities in Virginia asked the public for help in identifying a location seen in two photographs possibly culled from Ben Fawley's computer files.

The photos in question show a body of water in a heavily wooded area, and authorities believe that they are looking for a pond, rather than a stream or river.

A source close to the investigation told Court TV's Crime Library that an unnamed witness had suggested that the body of water in the photographs might very well be a former quarry or construction site near Richmond, VA, now filled with water. The source indicated that the body of water in question was quite deep, and that if evidence crucial to a prosecution of Taylor Behl case was thrown into the pond, it might be exceptionally difficult to recover.

While the body of water suggested by the witness was not specifically named, a 30-minute drive from Richmond might bring a scuba enthusiast or nature lover to Lake Rawlings. Lake Rawlings is in Brunswick County, VA, and is the only privately-owned scuba and camping facility open to the public in the state of Virginia. However, it is not the only pond or man-made lake near Richmond. Additionally, authorities have good reason to wonder if the seemingly tranquil waters seen in the mysterious photos are near Richmond, after all Taylor Behl's body was discovered in October of 2005 in Mathews County, VA, over 70 miles from that city. Mathews County has a number of inlets and bays, where one could travel by boat from the Atlantic Ocean into Mathews County for quite some distance.   Ben Fawley allegedly told police of his "accidental" killing of Taylor Behl while they were near "a beach."

This development prompted new questions about the investigation into Taylor Behl's murder. Why has Fawley not been charged? What significance could the photos have, after all? Could authorities be searching for discarded evidence, or the actual scene of the alleged homicide?

Though authorities are seeking public input about the photographs, rumored to have been found in a deleted folder on one of Fawley's several computers, there is still a general gag order on the investigation.

Ben Fawley is the amateur photographer suspected of having murdered VCU freshman Taylor Marie Behl on or about September 5, 2005. After he was jailed for possession of child pornography, Fawley allegedly told Richmond law enforcement that he had accidentally killed Behl during rough, but consensual sex. However, as of November 29, no further charges had been filed against him.
