Also inside the apartment, police found an eight-page letter penned by Bowen. In it, he explained what had happened. In part, the letter read:

"I scared myself not by the action of calmly strangling the woman I've loved for one and a half years, and then (dismembering) her body but by my entire lack of remorse. I've known for ever how horrible of a person I am—ask anyone—and decided to quit my jobs and spend the 1,500 dollars cash I had being happy until I killed myself. So, that's what I did: good food, good drugs, good strippers, good friends and any loose ends I may have had. I didn't contact any of my family. So that'll explain the shock. And had a fantastic time living out my days...It's just about time now."

According to Bowen's letter, he strangled his girlfriend on Oct. 5. Then he repeatedly raped her corpse until he passed out drunk beside her. The next morning he went to work delivering groceries and came up with a plan for disposing of her body. When he got home he dumped Addie into the tub and used a handsaw and a knife to cut her into pieces.

Then he cooked her.

Police claim there is no evidence that Bowen ate part of his girlfriend.

After the murder, Bowen partied until he ran out of money. Then he took a header off of a French Quarter hotel.
