Thrown onto the fire of hundreds of pages of John Mark Karr's delusional emails is the shaky reputation of Boulder law enforcement in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case.  The horribly botched police investigation of 10 years ago has come back to haunt Boulder as once again it has been given another chance to redeem itself. Once again, Boulder failed miserably. Suspect John Mark Karr, who Boulder flew back from Bangkok, strictly on the basis of his colorful "confession" and his conviction for possession child pornography, is not JonBenet's killer and charges will not be filed against him for this crime.

While all the details of Boulder's high-profile fiasco have not yet surfaced, it is possible from existing published accounts to piece together what happened in this investigation of John Mark Karr, starting in Petaluma in April 2001 when Karr was arrested for having pornographic images of underage children on his computer.

In 2001, Sonoma County authorities determined from their investigation that Karr was fascinated with the high-profile murders of two girls, JonBenet Ramsey and Polly Klaas. Accordingly, they contacted Boulder officials to notify them of their investigation. Apparently, Boulder authorities did little or nothing to follow up. Up to this point the Sonoma County officials have been very discreet about that issue, but eventually the truth will come out.
