Then there's Aubrey's mother, who wants to show a supposedly amnesic Aubrey who she is by giving her a photo of herself at the age of eight. As if! And let's not even talk about the rushed and silly seduction of Aubrey's boyfriend to prove a point more easily made in other ways.

Yet acknowledging all of that, at least there's more to this flick than a bunch of people sitting around bleeding and trying to figure out how to escape. There's a plot and there's even a lot of blue-light cinematography to help this film become an edgy story. Lohan is always interesting to watch and Ormond is a welcome addition. It's also a credit to the screenwriter that it did not become just another rendition of the overplayed multiple personality disorder. In fact, the final twist is something that few, if any, people will have guessed. That's a film feat unto itself.

The opening line will get a laugh if anyone has followed Lohan's recent antics: "She knew how to turn her life into a movie." We've all heard about the canceled appearance on Jay Leno and about the possibility that Lohan might land in jail for a double DUI violation and drug possession. She seems to be on a downward spiral, but at least she's young enough to rebound if she so desires. Plenty of people find her both talented and attractive.

Spencer Garrett, who plays one of the investigators in the film, gave an interview to Movie Geeks United in which he commented, "I think that she brings a real rawness and can be extremely present. She comes to play and she's an incredibly hard worker. Unfortunately, there's a lot of baggage surrounding her these days. I think she's going to come through the other side and she's going to be one of our great actors."

Time will tell, but this film probably won't be among her key achievements.
