According to Clark, investigators have connected Sanchez to over half a dozen rapes, and he is considered a suspect in at least a dozen more dating back to the 1970s.  Clark is now hopeful that Sanchez will confess to those rapes.

"He has nothing to lose and everything to gain from admitting it," Clark told The Buffalo News Friday.  "Whatever he says to us, he suffers no jeopardy by saying he committed all of them ... If those tears [during court] were real and his pretense of remorse is real, then he'll come forward and he'll agree to go through each and every one of those cases and tell us."

LoTempio admits that his client indicated he did commit some of the rapes, but the attorney stopped short of saying if or when his client would make an official admission.

"There has been some acknowledgment of responsibility surrounding some of the accusations that [Anthony J.] Capozzi did time for," LoTempio told The Buffalo News.

In March, DNA glass slides, which were part of rape kits taken during the 1970s, were found in a cabinet at the Erie County Medical Center.  Investigators believe testing on these slides may connect Sanchez to some of the rapes he is suspected of committing; however, the cases are not considered a priority because New York's five-year statute of limitations has expired.
