The last phone call I made yesterday regarding this case was to Bonnie's daughter, Michelle Stojanik.  Oddly enough, no one had bothered to notify her about the autopsy.  Michelle was working on a scrapbook about her mother when I called.

"It's so weird that you called—I was just working on some of my mom's stuff," Michelle said.  "Somebody just printed all of the articles from the Internet and made a large binder for us, so I was in the process of making copies for all us kids."

Regarding Woodring's autopsy, Michelle had this to say: "Undetermined?  Why didn't he die of heart disease before he killed my mom?"

I find myself agreeing with Michelle.  As much as I enjoy our newfound friendship, I wish the circumstances surrounding it were different.  Perhaps in the end, Bonnie's death will serve a greater purpose.  Michelle has since filed a lawsuit against the shelter where her mother was killed.  She has also become an advocate of sorts for the safety of abused and battered women.  It is her hope that local governments will now force domestic violence shelters to abide by stricter rules and more thorough safety regulations.

Last fall, John Raymond "Woody" Woodring, a perverted polygamist, con man, and published crime writer, burst into a domestic violence shelter and murdered his wife, Bonnie Woodring, in cold blood.  What followed was a month-long, nation-wide manhunt that ended when Woody took his own life.
