Under Suspicion

Immediately after her husband's funeral, Sandra flew back to Dallas and cut off contact with Alan's family.

Two days later she hired a top Dallas criminal defense lawyer.

Sandra's behavior rubbed many in Edmond the wrong way.

"I think she killed him," Alan's friend Nils Rockne told Crime Library.

Sandra fought Gloria Rehrig over the life insurance money and eventually won. She collected at least $100,000 but may have cashed in on her husband's murder with other policies.

From the Edmond funeral home that handled all of Alan's burial arrangements, Sandra ordered 40 copies of her husband's death certificate.

To the Oklahoma City police detectives investigating Alan's murder, Sandra's actions did more than rub them the wrong way, they made them downright suspicious. They considered her their only suspect. When they tried to interview Sandra, she refused to answer their questions.

Their investigation went nowhere.

A few years later, Sandra left Dallas and moved to California. Another short-lived marriage quickly followed. More bank accounts were drained.

It's doubtful Sandra spent much of her time in California thinking about Alan Rehrig's friends and family.

"You just have no idea the grief and the heartache this woman has caused us," Nils Rockne said.

Alan is never far from his mother's thoughts.

"There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him and remember the good times," Gloria Rehrig said.
