On Saturday, Dec. 7, a warm, sunny day in Dallas, Alan told Phil Askew that Sandra had asked him to meet her at a mini-warehouse where she had some of her belongings stored. She needed help moving a few things.

Alan told Phil he would meet him for dinner after he got done helping Sandra.

At noon that same day, Alan was supposed to meet Nils Rockne, an old friend from Edmond, for a round of golf.

Alan didn't show up for golf or for dinner.

On Monday, Alan's boss started calling around looking for him. It was unusual for Alan to be late for work.

Gloria Rehrig was at a work-related conference in Tulsa when a friend told her that her son was missing. She left the conference and drove home to Edmond.

Alan's older brother, Phillip, called Sandra as soon as he heard the news and asked if she had filed a missing person report.

Sandra said no.

Phillip asked her to call the police right away.

Sandra refused. Alan will turn up, she said.

Phillip called the Dallas Police Department himself and reported his brother missing. According to Alan's mother, Sandra was furious about Phillip calling the police.

Two days later, a couple of Oklahoma City police officers discovered Alan's body slumped between the two front seats of his Bronco. His body was frozen. The Bronco was parked at a remote electrical substation near the airport.

Investigators noticed the driver's seat was adjusted for someone much shorter than Alan Rehrig, who stood 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Sandra was about 5 feet 6 inches tall.
