Kevin Underwood: Another Deadly Blogger?

By  Steve Huff

Underwood also had a MySpace account. Here is part of what he wrote in his "about me" 'blurb':

"I am not a "macho man," and have in fact been accused of being gay more than once. Mostly because I've never had a girlfriend, and don't stare at women out in public. My idea of a good time is to cuddle up together on the couch and watch a DVD or something. I love to cuddle, hug, and kiss. That isn't to say I don't like sexual activity, though. I'm a very sexual being, though I haven't really had a chance to explore that side of life."

Under "who I'd like to meet," Underwood wrote:

"Friends are welcome from all over. As far as romance goes, I would like to meet a woman between 18 and 30 who lives in the central Oklahoma area, in or around Purcell, Norman, Moore or OKC. I would be interested in a relationship, but something less serious would probably be acceptable as well. Nudge, wink"

Underwood apparently felt more comfortable socializing on the web, as his presence on the internet was wide ranging he even had a Yahoo Geocities page - www.geocities.com/subspecies23/, which is no longer available.

There you could find out more about Underwood through his links page, where he had multiple hyperlinks under various headings, such as, "High Weirdness - Research into kooks and cults and general weirdness," and "Religions/Theology/Blasphemy."

A fascinating wrinkle of the internet's weaving its way into stories like the abduction and murder of Jamie Rose Bolin as well as the murders of the Groene family in Idaho last year, allegedly by erstwhile blogger Joseph Edward Duncan, is how members of the public, once aware of the suspect's web presence, can begin leaving messages directly addressing the alleged killer. In Kevin Underwood's first MySpace blog entry, written on February 27th, 2006, he wrote in part:

"So, I finally created a Myspace profile, despite my intense hatred of Myspace. Actually, I don't hate myspace itself, I just hate what most people do with their profiles. They're full of dozens of annoying animated gifs, and videos and music that automatically plays when you load the page, which annoys me to no end. And often they have annoying background images that make it impossible to actually read the text on their profile I didn't even know about myspace until maybe a month ago, actually. Yeah, where have I been?"

Underwood simply wrote an innocuous "hello world" blog entry, wherein he also stated that he was feeling sick that day and was going to turn in early.

After his arrest for the murder of Jamie Rose Bolin and the announcement of his web presence on local news, the comments on that MySpace blog entry began coming from strangers. Perhaps a comment left April 14th, 2006 by another MySpace user named Austin is emblematic of the other comments there and on Underwood's blogspot weblogs. Austin wrote, "Seriously...........why?!"
