Kathryn Harvey |
Victims Had Reputation for Kindness and Compassion
Jay Leavitt, manager of Plan 9 and a long time friend of Kathryn's said the couple had a well-deserved reputation among all of their associates for kindness and compassion. Recently, for example, one of Leavitt's employees, a young lady who had been battling a fierce cold, had to visit Kathryn's shop for business reasons. "She had told her she had a cold and when she went over to see Kathryn in her office, she had set up a little cold remedy section there on her desk," Leavitt recalled.
That, Leavitt said, was characteristic of Kathryn Harvey. "She was just as sweet a person as she could be, just a kind heart, as kind of heart as you could haveYou know one of the last times I saw her, I was having a bad day and she was just about heading out the door and she turned around and came back and gave me a big old hug
"That's one of the last contacts I had with her, it was one of those things, it just turned my day around," Leavitt said. "That's the way she was. Just a good, kind hearted personI'm just trying to keep positive and keep my memory of her the way it was."
And despite their prominence in the community, Leavitt said, there was never any hint that the couple or their children had any enemies. "I can't see how they would," Leavitt said.
