Police say the killer likely knew of the building because it had been the site of rave parties in the in past. Emmery had been attending rave parties on a weekly basis before she disappeared on a Friday afternoon in January. Her friends gave police conflicting statements about her attendance at a party that night.

Emmery's body was found five days later, lying on her side along the loading dock. Her white "Tinkerbell" sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes were clean, a stark contrast to the filthy interior of the warehouse. Police say she was killed elsewhere.

Five miles and a world away from Marisol Street is the middle class home Emmery lived in with her mother, grandparents and younger brother and sister. Evidence of a close knit family is relayed through the numerous mementos that have been carefully placed around the living room: silk flowers, beads, plaques and dozens of  framed photographs depicting smiling children.

Two neatly made twin beds still sit in the tidy room Emmery shared with her brother. Many of her girly knick knacks have been stored away although her presence is clearly felt with a few remaining items.

"My sister couldn't stand it, she had to pack that stuff away," said Emmery's aunt, Becky Haro.

Emmery collected stuffed animals and about a dozen are sprinkled throughout the room: bears, a rabbit, dogs and the character "Oscar" from the Sesame Street television show. She also collected figurines and a few are still  present, as are several photographs of Emmery and her 7-year-old sister.

A plaque depicting Jesus and a cross hang on the wall.
