New York (Crime Library)   — On Saturday, a young woman allegedly lured her stepfather to her apartment where sources say she handcuffed, asphyxiated and sexually mutilated him.  Her driving motivation was reportedly revenge for alleged sexual abuses occurring nearly 20 years ago.  Experts in the field of psychology are calling the case unique, because it is rare for a victim to kill the abuser.

"TRUE FRIENDS WILL UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THIS."

What you just read is a cryptic message that 26-year-old Brigitte Harris recently posted to her MySpace profile, which has now been set to private.  At the time, the meaning behind her message was unknown; but now, less than a week later, there is little doubt as to why she left it.

Details at this time remain sketchy, but according to published reports and statements made by police, Harris sent her stepfather, 55-year-old Eric Goodridge, a series of e-mails on July 28 that were intended to lure him to her apartment in Far Rockaway.  The content of those emails has not yet been released; however, the gambit apparently worked, as Goodridge took the bait and showed up at Harris' apartment sometime before noon on Saturday.  What happened next remains unclear, but in the end, Goodridge's life was brought to an abrupt end.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m., an unidentified woman placed a 9-1-1 call to police, alerting them to a distress at Harris' third-floor apartment at 436 Beach 69th Street.  The content of that call has not yet been released.

When police and emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene, a horrific sight greeted them.  They found Goodridge's body handcuffed to a chair, his mouth gagged with duct tape and a towel wrapped around his neck.  His penis had been severed from his body.  Nearby, investigators found several chilling notes.

"He wrecked my life," read one.  "At first, I blamed myself.  Now I know it's not my fault," another said.
