HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Two gay men have been found murdered in popular cruising areas in Halifax Regional Municipality and police are now warning members of the gay community to be on the lookout for a possible serial killer, because of similarities in the murders. "We do not know if their sexual orientation or the cruising areas played a factor in their deaths," Deputy Chief Chris McNeil of Halifax Regional Police told the Herald Chronicle. "These circumstances, though, cannot be ruled out as contributing factors. Therefore we are issuing a public advisory for potential safety concerns in cruising areas." The victims have been identified as Michael Paul Knott, 44, of Timberlea and Trevor Charles Brewster, 45, of Cole Harbor.

PETAH TIKVA, Israel — Police have arrested Rostislev Pogoslevski, 18, on suspicion of being a serial killer. According to police, Pogoslevski, an immigrant from the former Soviet Union, murdered at least two men in recent months and had attempted to murder a third. Police also allege that Pogoslevski killed and devoured more than 500 cats, whose hides were found in his apartment. They also found a cell phone, allegedly containing photos of his crimes. Pogoslevski will make his first court appearance on May 26.

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Suspected serial killer Altemio Sanchez, 49, dubbed the "Bike Path Rapist," has pled guilty to four counts of second-degree murder. "Once I spoke with Mr. Sanchez, he decided it would be best for his family and the families of the victims to save them from hearing the details of the case," Sanchez's attorney, Andrew C. LoTempio, told reporters after Sanchez's brief court appearance. Sanchez now faces a possibility of 75 years to life in prison. His sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 2 Next Page
