CHICAGO, Ill. (Crime Library) — There have been new developments in the investigation into the murder of Dr. David Cornbleet.  During a press conference last week, the Chicago Police Department made public a security video from Sept. 30, 2006, that shows a man purchasing an item at a Home Depot store that is identical to an item that was found at the scene of Dr. Cornbleet's murder.  Cmdr. Steven Peterson would not comment on what the purchased item was, but he did say that a bar code on it showed that it was an item sold exclusively by Home Depot.

"We went through the bar code and name of the product, and the detectives did an excellent job with following up and found out that this product is sold only by Home Depot," Peterson said.  While he did not name the man in the video as a suspect in the investigation, Peterson did say that his department would like the public's help in identifying the man.

"The police said there were about 30 purchases in the (Chicago) area of this particular item, and the person in the new footage is the only one who came somewhat close to the description," Dr. Cornbleet's son, Jonathan, said in a telephone interview with Crime Library, yesterday afternoon.  "There is also the fact that the man in the video paid in cash and only bought this item.  He went to the customer service desk, asked where the item was, and went and found it."
