BAYTOWN, Texas - For the last eight months, a serial rapist has been preying on men in suburban areas of Houston. The crimes began in April and since then the rapist has struck at least five times. Authorities admit that figure could be much higher because male rape victims are generally too ashamed to come forward. According to police reports, the suspect uses a knife or gun to subdue his victims before raping them. During an interview with the Associated Press, criminologist Jack Levin said it would be unlikely for the suspect to turn into a serial killer. "I think the reason has to do with the absence or presence of a conscience," Levin said. "A serial rapist is more likely to have a conscience. Otherwise they'd take the life and silence the victim." While the suspect may never turn into a serial killer, he does bring to mind such cases as John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer. The suspect is described as a black man, 18 to 21 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall and about 200 pounds, with a shaved head.

| QUEENSLAND, Australia — Convicted serial killer Leonard Fraser, 55, was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital today after complaining of chest pains. His current condition has not yet been released. Fraser is currently serving a life sentence for the murders of three Rockhampton women and a schoolgirl. |

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Last month authorities arrested Richman Makhwekhwe, 27, for allegedly murdering five people, whose bodies were discovered south of Johannesburg, at Moffat Park. Police now say a sixth badly decomposed body has been found in a shallow grave at the same park. An investigation is currently underway to determine if this most recent victim is related to the other five murders. Makhwekhwe is scheduled to appear in court on January 19.

| ENGLAND — The family of convicted serial killer Harold Shipman has dropped their lawsuit against HM Prison Wakefield for negligence in Shipman's jailhouse suicide. According to UK news sources, his family decided they could not deal with the public outcry they would receive if they won. Shipman was convicted of 15 murders in 2000, however he was suspected of 215. He was found hanging in his cell at 6:20 a.m. on January 13, 2004. |

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Convicted serial killer Oscar Ray Bolin is currently appealing his death sentence, for the 1986 murder of 26-year-old Teri Lynn Matthews. Last month Bolin was convicted a third time, in the November 1986 slaying of 17-year-old Stephanie Collins. He is currently waiting sentencing in that case. In addition to those convictions, Bolin is also serving a life sentence for the 1986 killing of Natalie Holley. In his current appeal, Bolin is claiming his attorney made numerous mistakes, which resulted in his death sentence. The hearings continue next week.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Investigators have been going through a long list of suspects, in hopes of finding one who fits the profile of "The Eastbound Strangler." While several men have been questioned, authorities refuse to comment on the current status of the investigation. Atlantic County prosecutor, Jeffrey S. Blitz, heads the task force looking into the murders. For the past few days, numerous media outlets have been trying to get in touch with Blitz, however he does not return calls to his office or home.
