David & Carol Keeffes' Killer Was Familiar With Difficult Terrain Around Their Home

(Continued)

On Friday, I had an opportunity to speak with David's father, Paul Keeffe, a retired Arlington, MA, police officer.  "We all loved him," Paul said.  "He was a good honest man.  He always gave everyone a fair shake.  I can't understand it."  When I asked him who he thought might have murdered his son, Paul said he believed it was probably a former client.  "As a retired cop, I understand how it could have happened.  I remember how mad I used to get when we would work so hard to put a crook behind bars and then some lawyer would get him off.  I just hope they get who did it."  While it is possible the David's killer could be related to his law practice, it is also possible the perpetrator could be a stranger or a family member.

According to his obituary, David Keeffe is survived by his parents, Paul and Ruth Keeffe of Woburn; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Ann Keeffe and Matthew D. Jones of Sayre; his son, David M. Keeffe and fiancé Joanna Kolb of New York City; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Colette Keeffe of Maynard; his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Larry DiPalma of Chelmsford; his brother Kevin Keeffe of Woburn; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Paul Hendries of Manchester, N.H.; his sister, Susan Keeffe of Woburn; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Beth Keeffe of Saunderstown, R.I.  In addition to the relatives mentioned above, Carol is survived by her parents, Michael and Ann DeSisti along with her sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Thomas Witmer.

A source close to the investigation has told me two search warrants relating to this case were served in New York last week, however investigators with the North Towanda State Police refuse to comment.

The law firm of DeSisti and Keeffe is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murders of the Keeffes.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Athens Township Police Department at (570) 888-2200, the Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 265-2186, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 4PA-TIPS.
