LITTLETON, Colo. (Crime Library) — After an unpleasant Saturday night experience with two men at a popular Denver nightspot called the Grizzly Rose Saloon and Dance Emporium, Nonnie Dotson went back to her brother's home after an evening of line dancing. According to published reports, the very attractive 33-year-old woman had been harassed by two men who wanted to take her to breakfast, according to a tipster who contacted her brother, Tony, after seeing the missing persons flier posted at the dance club. The tipster, a man who danced with Nonnie that evening, told Tony that she did not appear to be a happy young woman.

The next day, Sunday, Nov. 19, she went missing after leaving her brother's home in Littleton, Colorado, where she had been staying while on leave from her position as an intensive care nurse at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. She had her 16-month-old toddler, Savannah, with her on the visit. Tony often babysat Savannah along with his own children. Nonnie told her brother that she was going out to the Jefferson Village shopping center which is just a few minutes away from Tony Dotson's home and might do some shopping and catch up with some friends.

Officially, this is a missing persons case, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Shires, as there is no evidence of foul play. Dotson's family has made it quite clear that Nonnie would never abandon Savannah.

Nonnie's cell phone was last used in around C-470 and South Kipling Parkway, an area where search dogs picked up Nonnie's scent. Tony Dotson told the Rocky Mountain News that his sister went to get her hair done near Park Meadows the day before she disappeared.

Fox News' Greta Van Susteren reported last night that Nonnie, a single mother, and Savannah's father, 53-year-old Edward Vehle of San Antonio, were embroiled in a bitter custody and support battle. The Rocky Mountain News quoted Nonnie's friend, Jackie Johnanning, as saying, "She (Savannah) has never met the man. He never held her." Nonnie had been married before, but is divorced from ex-husband Doug Wolenetz. Tony Dotson told authorities that there were instances when his sister believed that she was being followed.
