New Facts Uncovered In John Woodring Investigation -- Exclusive

By David Lohr

(Continued)

Woody took the money he borrowed from Bonnie and started a business called Professional Publishing Services.  The website, which is no longer online, was registered to a woman named Lisa Fisher.  Over the past few weeks several websites on the Internet have suggested that Lisa Fisher might have been one of Woody's ex-wives.  I was unable to print this information before now, because I was lacking the proof to back it up.  Crime Library has since obtained a copy of a 1992 marriage license, which shows John Raymond "Woody" Woodring was in fact married to a Lisa Maria Fisher from Cullowhee, North Carolina.

According to their 1997 divorce decree, Woody and Lisa had one child together.  It is also stated in the paperwork that she was entitled to the "return of her maiden name, Lisa M. Fisher."  So we now have proof that Lisa was Woody's ex-wife.  I have also learned that the proceeds from Woody's book are going into a joint bank account he shares with Lisa.  Is it just me or does that seem rather odd?  While I do not know how their marriage functioned, it is no secret that Woody liked to control, manipulate and abuse practically ever woman he has ever been with.  He has a 15-year history of arrests for domestic violence.  So I have to wonder, why on earth would anyone, especially an ex-wife, want to go into business with him?

The month of May was a busy one for Woody.  Not only did he graduate from Western Carolina University, but Bonnie also agreed to marry him.  So on May 20, 2005, 35-year-old John Raymond "Woody" Woodring and 48-year-old Bonnie Lynn Mertz were wed during a private ceremony in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  Not long afterwards, the couple vacationed in Hawaii.

During their Hawaii vacation, Woody went to see world-renowned bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman.  Unfortunately for Woody, Chapman was out of town at the time.  Nonetheless—always ready to self-promote—Woody made sure to leave him an autographed copy of his book.  I'm sure Chapman treasures it to this day.
