In an interview with NBC-12 First Coast News, Michelle Piercy denied any wrongdoing and described her husband as a loving father.  "Yes we're very protective, very protective, the reason the cameras were there was to make sure he didn't hurt himself or do something wrong," she said.  "My husband is the most loving person that I know."  In his own defense, Piercy said his arrest was uncalled for and he denied holding his son prisoner.  "I'm a loving father, I didn't cage my son; I love my family and I love my son," he said.

Shortly after the arrest, John Harrell, a spokesman for Florida's Department of Children and Family Services, issued a statement regarding the agency's involvement in the investigation.  "These allegations are deplorable," Harrell said.  "Although we cannot discuss specific cases due to the state's strict confidentiality laws, in cases like these, we would begin a thorough investigation immediately.  The department's first priority is the safety and well-being of all children."

While in court on Thursday, Michelle Piercy again defended her husband and said the charges against him were blown out of proportion.  "We choose not to put him on any type of medication," she said.  "Randy has not abused him.  I have not abused him."

According to a records search conducted by NBC-12, the Piercys ran a moderately profitable Internet business from their home. The website, which can be found at www.Wickedoutlet.com, is an online clothing store.  They also have an account on eBay, where they currently have 107 items up for bid.
