Also that day, the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Joseph and Atlee on charges of criminal conspiracy. Both men were arraigned before Crawford County District Judge Amy Nichols, and placed in the Crawford County jail in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
On April 22, troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Kane received information that Gingerich and his daughter were in McKean County, about two hours from the Crawford County Amish community that from which Gingerich had taken her.
Gingerich was arrested, and arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Nichols. He was charged with criminal conspiracy to commit concealment of the whereabouts of a child, concealment of the whereabouts of a child, and interfering with the custody a child. Following his arraignment, Gingerich was remanded to the Crawford County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Edward, Joseph, and Atlee Gingerich posted bond shortly after their arrests. In May, the men attended their preliminary hearings, at which time they were ordered to stand trial in September.
The three charges against Gingerich are third-degree felonies. If convicted on all counts, Gingerich could be sentenced to up to 21 years in jail and fined $45,000.
The preliminary hearings for David Gingerich and Daniel Gingerich are scheduled for July 16.
