Ashton Glover's friend Sarah wrote:

"Rest In Peace[,] Beautiful Friend. I love you so much. Right now I'm at Its a Grind drinking your favorite coffee drink, a triple chocolate mocha . . . I wonder if I can get them to name it after you. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you where I'm at since you're watching me from the beautiful skies above but I love you so much and I'm so sorry I didn't stop you from leaving that night. I wish you were here. I wish I could bum you a cigarette. I miss you so much. Whoever did this to you . . . we're going to get them. Mark my words . . . Watch over us and help us find who did this to you. I love you."

Ashton Glover's pickup was parked at the It's a Grind Coffee Shop for part of the same night she disappeared from Sugar Land.

Glover's friends were posting messages at http://www.myspace.com/aglove before the news of Ashton's death was broadcast by the local "mainstream" media.

A male friend named Jordan posted a message that read, in part:

"Ashton[,] You were like my sister, my pain is so overwhelming, I cried in front of my friends when I heard that it was [you] on the news . . ."

Jordan changed his MySpace headline to "i luv u, ashton, you were like my sister."

Ashton Glover would have graduated from Clements High School in Sugar Land in 2007. She was a member of the FFA (Future Farmers of America), and based on statements she posted on MySpace.com, Ashton Glover was devoted to her family and friends. Ashton liked books like the sci-fi classic, Ender's Game and As Simple As Snow. She was a big fan of the movie, The Crow, and wrote on her MySpace page that she would have liked to meet the movie's star, Brandon Lee, "even though he's dead."

Ashton had 298 friends on MySpace.com. Often the number of friends is considered by teens who use the social networking site to be a kind of popularity meter. Some of Ashton's friends changed their profile to a private setting after her death, a measure that allowed only users on their friends list to see what was posted. Others followed Jordan's lead, though, and altered their profile headline to reflect the loss felt upon hearing of Ashton's body being discovered.
