"It appears at this time that her death was caused by an unknown intruder who broke into her residence," Strandberg said.  "In my experience, the victim and the suspects have always had a close relationship.  However, in this case we're not able to ascertain any of that and it is a little unsettling."

Strandberg said his department was interviewing Anita's friends and family members to try and determine a timeline of events leading up to her murder.  He urged anyone who had contact with her on the first weekend in June to contact police.  He also said his department was seeking information on a man a witness reported seeing running away from the area of Anita's apartment at about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 3.

"She (the witness) saw this male, it was early Sunday morning, he was wearing a white t-shirt and either black or Navy blue shorts, male about 6'2", 200 pounds, dark hair, she said somewhat longer than mine so I guess it would be shorter hair, and that he didn't appear to be someone out for a morning jog or a morning run, that it appeared he was running away from something," Strandberg said.

Residents of Anita's hometown, still shaken by the murders, are banding together to help her parents cope with the loss of their beloved daughter.  "The whole community is doing whatever they can do," Sandie Hartman told The Associated Press on Saturday.  Since the murder Hartman has been running Sharon's grocery store.  "This is something I can do. I used to work in a restaurant.  You just give wherever you can," she said.
