Police Dogs Come Up Empty in Hunt for Deidre Harm

While authorities are not yet prepared to suggest that Harm was a victim of foul play, they are focusing on the last few hours before her disappearance and are pleading with the public to help them fill in some of the gaps in their knowledge.

What authorities know so far, police say, is that Harm and a close friend went bar hopping the night she vanished. The pair went to a local strip club called The Finish Line, and there, they separated, her friend remained at the bar, while Harm mingled with other friends and acquaintances, some she knew since high school, and perhaps, a few strangers.

At some point during the evening, Harm left the bar, and her friend, and according to witnesses, went across the street to another club, called the Body Shop. There, according to sketchy witness accounts, she was in the company of at least one man, a man whom witnesses were unable to identify, and may also have spent some time with a couple. Authorities have only the sketchiest description of the man and the couple, and so far, they have gotten little cooperation from people who were in the bar and may have seen Deidre that night.

Authorities are pleading with those witnesses to come forward, and noting that some may have been reluctant for whatever reason to admit to having been in the bar that night, they have promised that all calls will be treated discreetly. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wisconsin Rapids Police at (715) 423-4444 or Wood County Crime Stoppers at (817) 325-7867,

In the meantime, authorities, and Harm are continuing to search for Deidre herself. Earlier this week, police dogs were brought in, Scott Harm said, to see if they could find a trace of the missing woman. The dogs, he said, followed her scent along her regular paths in the downtown area, from the bars to her apartment to the local Hardee's restaurant where she worked, but found nothing that would indicate what happened to her, Harm said.
