WAGONER, Okla.  (Crime Library) — A registered sex offender wanted by police is being blamed for kidnapping his 13-year-old daughter from the home of his ex-wife.

Neighbors saw Paul Christopher McKinstry, 52, in front of his ex-wife's home late Friday afternoon, the same time daughter Erin Michelle McKinstry went missing, said the girl's mother, Cynthia Harris, 40. The girl would never intentionally wander off because she has ADHD and the mental capacity of an 8 or 9-year-old, Harris said.   

"We're her world, she follows us around like a puppy dog," Harris said. Her family also includes husband Gerold and older daughter Phallon, 17. "She believes everyone is going to be her best friend and she doesn't think there is anyone who would hurt her. She is very trusting."

McKinstry has no visitation rights to see his daughter and hasn't tried to contact her since the couple divorced in 2002.

Harris believes McKinstry took the girl out of revenge for Harris' role in placing him in prison last year for failing to pay child support while on probation for a sex offense.

Now McKinstry could be anywhere from Oklahoma to Mexico with their daughter, she said. 

 

Erin was last seen at 3:40 p.m. when Phallon left home to go work at a fast food restaurant. By the time Harris got home from work at 6 p.m. the house was empty. She drove around the neighborhood and called police at 6:30 p.m.
