Wilson said he asked the GBI to take the lead early in the investigation because of the close relationship both Parkers have with the LaFayette Police Department and with the Sheriff's Office.

Parker reportedly told GBI agents that he last saw his wife on Tuesday, March 20, the day before she was last at her sister's house. He went fishing two days later, he said, and was not aware his wife was missing until her family reported it to the Sheriff's Office.

According to Theresa's family and friends, she is not the type of person who would leave without telling anyone. She maintained close, almost daily, contact with her mother and sister.

After days of fruitless searching, Sheriff Wilson was asked when he thought the investigation might move from a missing person case to a homicide case.

"I don't know that there is actually a timeline in the textbook," Wilson told the Walker County Messenger. "You have to take all the factors into consideration as to when to change it from a missing person to a possibly more serious case, maybe a criminal case of some sort."

Although the search for Theresa has been cut back, investigators are still hard at work, Wilson said.

"We're running down many different leads," the sheriff told Crime Library.

Thursday, investigators announced they had used a GPS satellite to locate Theresa's cell phone and have found out the last number she dialed, but they would not provide any more details.

"I'm very disturbed," Sheriff Wilson said. "I have a bad feeling."
