BRUNSWICK, Ga. (Crime Library) — After three days of intense searching that took them into flooded canals, thick woods, and putrid trash dumpsters, police on Sunday night called off the organized hunt for 6-year-old Christopher Michael Barrios Jr., who has been missing since Thursday evening.
Monday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Levi's Call, the Georgia equivalent of an Amber Alert, for the missing kindergartener.

Investigators say they suspect Christopher was abducted, and detectives are in the process of interviewing registered sex offenders who live near the Canal Mobile Home Park where Christopher lives with his father.
"I'm treating it as an abduction," Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said Saturday. "A 6-year-old boy just doesn't disappear for this long on his own."

According to published reports, at least 37 registered sex offenders live in the same zip code as Christopher.
Christopher was last seen about 6:15 Thursday night walking home from a swing set in the mobile home park. As he often does, he went to play on the swings after eating dinner with his grandmother, who also lives in the mobile home park. His father, Christopher Barrios Sr., was still at work at the time.
