Sulejmen Talovic, the Salt Lake City shooter, doesn't seem to fit the profile of a rage-filled lone gunman. He wasn't an employee, or a former employee, of the mall. He didn't know anyone he shot. His family and few friends don't think he was angry or depressed. Nor does there appear to have been any recent emotional trigger that set him off.
There is a profile, however, that seems to fit him better: that of a cold, calculating lone jihadist on a suicide mission to kill as many innocent people as possible.

Talovic's death leaves more questions than may ever be answered. How long did he plan his deadly shooting rampage? Where did he get the guns and ammunition? Who was he talking to and what was he reading in the months and weeks leading up to his attack on the Trolley Square mall?
In the case of Sulejmen Talovic some see a lone gunman, some see an individual terrorist. Either way, the result is the same, nine innocent people shot down at an American shopping mall.
As the investigation into Talovic's actions continues, some questions will be answered, some will not, but the biggest question can never be answered.
Who will strike next, and where and when?
