For investigators, Dana Ewell expressed a certain acidity and cockiness that sent red flags up all over the place. He spoke as if cops were below him. He looked down to people who, unlike him, he believed, weren't in life to make money. He showed no emotion, not just toward the murders, but toward anything. He had grandiose thoughts and dreams. He believed he was smarter than everyone around him.
