PERUGIA, Italy (Crime Library) — There have been recent developments in the case of Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old European studies student from Coulsdon, south London, who was murdered last month. Investigators have completed their extradition of 20-year-old Rudy Hermann Guede from Germany and attorneys for 20-year-old Amanda Knox have released a written response to recent questions she has received from journalists.

Last week investigators from Italy traveled to Germany and completed their extradition of Guede and transferred him to Capanne prison in Perugia, where Knox and her former boyfriend, 23-year-old Raffaele Sollecito, are being held on suspicion of involvement in Meredith's murder. Guede has admitted that he had sex with Meredith on the night of the murder but denies he had anything to do with her death. He claims two men — with "Italian-American" accents — murdered Meredith while he was in the bathroom. He said her heard her screams and then fled the scene out of fear.

Yesterday, Amanda Knox's attorney released a written response to questions from La Repubblica. It read in part:

"It's made me feel terrible that people think I killed Meredith, just as the things they said in the newspapers and on TV about me and my family hurt me too. My mother was taken to pieces by the Anglo-Saxon papers, and they described me as if I were a monster...

"Meredith was sweet and sensitive. I liked living with her. We were friends even if each of us had their own lives... It makes me feel terrible to think what happened to her. If I had been at home that evening perhaps I would be dead now too."

In regards to her alleged confession, Knox said:

"I do not have anything to confess. I said those things which were used against me while I was in a state of great confusion."
