HOUSTON (Crime Library) — Nathanael "Nate" Hendrickson's car was found at the West Oaks Mall in Houston on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2005. The teal 2000 Nissan Sentra was parked outside Dillard's Department Store, about 40 yards from the store entrance, near the street. West Oaks Mall was a 20-minute drive from Hendrickson's home on 1102 Loeser in Spring Valley, TX.
Christmas Day saw Texas Equusearch, a non-profit mounted search-and-rescue team founded by Tim Miller, friends, and family of Nate Hendrickson searching the surrounding area for any sign of the 6'2", brown-haired, blue-eyed young man. The next day, December 26, 2005, Nate's sister, Alicia Weber, posted the following message on her own profile at myspace.com, the personal networking and blogging domain of choice for many of Nate's friends and family, as well as Hendrickson himself:
"As of Monday, December 26, My brother, Nate a 24 year old student at UH Downtown is still missing. The last time anyone saw or spoke to Nate was Wednesday, November 30. PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT KNOW NATE OR BE ABLE TO HELP!!!

EquuSearch is meeting today (Monday- 12/26) at 9:00 AM. I've been told they are meeting at a George Bush Park (Mapquest: 16756 Westheimer Pkwy, Houston, Tx 77082), around the corner from West Oaks Mall (going towards Katy)…
Thank you everyone who helped us on Christmas day and everyone who has helped through out these few weeks! We appreciate your help!
Please remember that this is a time for support and encouragement and not a time for gossip or any other negative feelings…"
George Bush Park is the sixth largest city park in the nation, covering 7,800 acres. The Barker Reservoir separates the northwest corner of the park from Interstate 10. A biking trail winds along the Buffalo Bayou, which snakes out of the park and meanders towards the west-southwest. George Bush Park is so vast that a 14-year-old boy named Jay Choi was missing there for over 18 hours in the year 2000, having lost his way after a paintball game with friends. Those searching the park for some sign of Nate Hendrickson had a lot of ground to cover.
At least 6 All-Terrain Vehicles were used in the search for Nate Hendrickson the day after Christmas. Local companies like Wal-Mart, Papa John's, and Wendy's contributed to the effort by providing goods for the 45 people who came that day to help – Kinko's had already been a great help by printing fliers with Nate's description and contact info for the Spring Valley Police.
By nightfall that Monday, there was still no sign of Nate Hendrickson. In searching around and to the west of Barker Reservoir, and in fields off Eldridge and Westheimer Parkway, a cell phone and black dress-belt were found, but their significance was not yet known.
Texas Equusearch and anxious volunteers would resume their quest the next day, Tuesday the 27th, for some sign of what had happened to Nate Hendrickson on the last Wednesday in November.
