Teens' sexual relations a poorly kept secret
A search of both Ludwig and Borden's home computers revealed that they had engaged in flirtatious chatter and had on at least one occasion, exchanged what authorities would describe only as "inappropriate" photographs. There is also evidence that some of Kara's friends had been worried by the relationship, though, according to posts recovered from her web log, the smitten teen bristled at any interference from those friends. As she wrote in response to one friend's questions, "if it doesn't have anything to do with you, then I don't want to know...what you have to sayIf it has to do with (D)avid and me, we are taking care of it — we know what we are going to do."
Authorities say the investigation is continuing, and, at least so far, Kara Borden is being considered a victim and a witness.
Investigators believe that Cathryn and Michael Borden confronted the couple early Sunday morning after the teens had spent the night out. Published reports have suggested that Ludwig, a hunter, had come to the house prepared for the confrontation and that he had brought at least one gun with him. As Kara's 15-year-old sister reportedly looked on in horror, Ludwig allegedly shot the 50-year-old man, then turned the gun on Cathryn.
Police caught the pair after a high-speed chase in Indiana, 600 miles west of the tight knit community of Lititz. Ludwig, facing charges of kidnap and murder, was extradited to Pennsylvania where he is being held without bail

A search of the Ludwig home turned up 54 firearms and a cache of ammo, a significant arsenal, even for a family of avid deer hunters.
