SOWETAN, South Africa — Police have uncovered the remains of a fifth woman in sugar cane plantations on the KwaZulu—Natal South Coast. An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death. Postmortem exams in the other four cases suggest the women were strangled and possibly raped. A psychological crime expert, is assisting police in the investigation.

UTAH— Members of the Davy Crockett Society at Utah Valley State College have started a petition to limit the availability of pornography on the Internet. During an interview with Heraldextra.com, Bobby Udall, the alumnus president of the society, claimed that viewing pornographic images could cause people to act out and become violent. "There's always the potential there for destruction," Udall said. To further support his statement, Udall set up a table in the Liberal Arts Building at the college and played a taped interview in which notorious serial killer Ted Bundy asserted that his problems in life began with his addiction to pornography. In regard to freedom of speech, Udall had this to say: "Freedom of speech is not free in all circumstances."

KATHMANDU — Nepal's Supreme Court is considering an appeal by convicted serial killer Charles Sobhraj. Justices Anup Raj Sharma and Tap Bahadur Magar have announced that their final verdict will be given on November 4. Known as the "Bikini Killer," Sobhraj committed over a dozen murders during the 1970s. Sobhraj's attorneys claim he was not in Nepal during the time the murders were committed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Convicted serial killer Altemio Sanchez, 48, the media dubbed "Bike Path Rapist," has been transferred to a maximum-security state prison in the Adirondacks. According to officials with the NY State Department of Corrections, Sanchez will be housed in a special unit away from the general population, where his neighbors will include convicted serial killer Joel Rifkin and Ralph "Bucky" Phillips, a man who was convicted of killing one state trooper and wounding three others last year while on the run from the law. Sanchez was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison last month for the murders of Linda Yalem, Majane Mazur, and Joan Diver.
