On the night of Sept. 8, with a crescent moon hanging in the sky, Zorkot, a powerfully-built man who lifts weights and kickboxes, parked a dark-colored SUV at Dearborn's Hemlock Park. The park covers about three square blocks and is just a mile from Zorkot's house on Chase Road. When he stepped from the SUV, Zorkot clutched his brand new, loaded AK-47 in his hands. He wore dark, military-style clothing and had blackened his face with some type of paint.

As the would-be jihadist crossed the park, someone spotted him and called 911 to report a man carrying a rifle in a park frequented by families. Local cops were on the scene quickly. Zorkot tried to get away. He jumped in his SUV, but the police boxed him in. When they rushed him, he struggled. Some reports stay he tried to get the rifle into firing position and that police had to hit him with a taser before they could subdue him.

Police seized Zorkot's AK-47 and a laptop computer from his SUV. Dearborn Police charged Zorkot with three state firearms charges, two felonies and one misdemeanor.

On Sept. 11, a state judge set Zorkot's bond at $1 million cash.
