ALFRED, Maine (Crime Library) — Last week, authorities in New Hampshire announced that they had positively identified a body found in New Hampshire on Labor Day weekend as that of 30-year-old Kelly Gorham. According to police, Kelly was the victim of a homicide. No suspects have been named; however, earlier this week, a Coos County grand jury began hearing evidence in the case.
According to a spokesman for the Maine Department of Safety, New Hampshire has jurisdiction over the case because that is where the body was discovered. New Hampshire Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery A. Strelzin will not comment on the status of the proceedings, citing its confidential status.
Last month, the father of Kelly's ex-fiance, Jason Twardus, 26, hired private investigator Sid Carlson to look into the case, following extensive questioning of his son by Maine State Police. Carlson recently told the New Hampshire Union Leader that state police troopers had served him with a subpoena to testify before the grand jury.
"I've got nothing to hide from the grand jury," Carlson said. "There is nothing that I am going to tell them that I haven't told my client already."

Kelly was last seen on August 7, getting into a small red car in front of her apartment, which is just off Route 202 in Alfred. When Kelly failed to show up the next day for work at Maine Medical Center in Portland, a co-worker called the police, and reported her missing. Since that time, the authorities have allegedly been focusing their investigation on Twardus. He was questioned on at least four occasions at Troop A headquarters of the Maine State Police.
