In an unrelated incident, David was charged with disorderly conduct for attempting to spook a horse and buggy with a flashlight on Frisbeetown Road on June 25.  The victim has not been named.

"A warning was given to the Amish community in the Frisbeetown Road area by Cpl. Scott Shipton and Trooper Michael Goss that this behavior will not be tolerated, and that any violation would constitute the crime of disorderly conduct," PSP Trooper Dale E. Gillette, wrote in the criminal complaint.

Following their arraignment Zilhaver ordered both men placed in the Crawford County Correctional Facility.  David is being held on a $5,000 bond and his cousin, Daniel, has been jailed on a $20,000 bond.

These most recent incidents stem from an incident that occurred over a decade ago, on March 18, 1993, when Edward Gingerich, in the presence of Mary and Daniel, who were ages three and five at the time, beat their mother, Katie, 29, so severely that her brain spilled out on the floor.  Afterwards, Gingerich undressed her and used a steak knife to make a seven-inch incision in her lower abdomen.  He then reached his hand up inside her body cavity, and removed her lungs, kidneys, stomach, liver, spleen, bladder, uterus, and heart.  He stacked the organs in a pile next to her body and stuck the knife into the top of the pile.  When he was finished, he threw his Bible into the fireplace and led the children outside, where he was later arrested.
