McCombs lawyer, Ira Chenkin, claims that his client is remorseful. This is highly doubtful. He behaves like a classic psychopath, stealing a gun from a friend's house, taking this loaded rare revolver with him on his ride with Ashton, his comments on the web. His remorse is almost certainly because he got caught. And like Underwood, he failed in even this criminal goal.
McCombs and Brown fled north to the Canadian border after Ashton's murder, but were caught in Michigan. Brown is still being held in Michigan.

McCombs' lawyer may try to change the venue to another county, but it will be difficult to get a change of venue. Chenkin admitted that his client is in "a very, very serious position right now."
