"I have no idea about a motive," Ballard told the Fayette Daily News yesterday. "Bizarre. That's the only way I can describe this. What's most bizarre to me is the timing and the circumstances. Not just that a man could kill his own 7-year-old son but that he could have stayed in the same house with the bodies. And then there's the placement of the bibles. I can't understand this."

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that steroids were discovered in Benoit's home. In the wake of this discovery, several news publications are suggesting the murders were a result of "roid rage." According to a University of Western Ontario website, the term refers to adverse side effects steroid users can experience, some of which include aggressive behavior, paranoia, edginess, impatience and mood swings.

In response to allegations suggesting drugs were responsible for the murder-suicide, the WWE published the following statement on its website yesterday:
"Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.
