The search for Jodie and Stephanie ended Sunday when a man discovered their bodies hanging from tree branches in Dandenong Ranges National Park.  The girls had used homemade nooses to end their own lives.  Police later determined that they had been dead for several days.  In the aftermath of their deaths, their friends and family members seemed baffled by the girls' double suicide.  Perhaps the fact that they were both into the Goth scene masked their depression, but the signs were present.

Stephanie had a profile on the popular Goth social networking website Vampirefreaks.com.  She listed her likes as "Scott, candy, showers, color, glitter lips and rainbows."  Her dislikes were "people, lies, broken hearts, hot weather, stupid people, long distance relationships and being shy."  She also filled out a brief description of herself.

Stephanie belonged to the user group "Suicide Girls," which appears to be a photo-trading group.
