Trey Perkins, 20, was in Norris Hall during the shooting. In an interview with The Washington Post, he said that the gunman had forced his way into his classroom and began shooting everyone in sight. Perkins asserted the gunman had a "very serious but very calm look on his face."
"Everyone hit the floor at that moment," Perkins stated. "And the shots seemed like they lasted forever."

School administrators sent out a second email at 9:50 a.m.
"Subject: Please stay put
"A gunman is loose on campus. Stay in buildings until further notice. Stay away from all windows."
The lack of information left students scrambling to learn what was happening. Many of them relied on the Internet for information about the shootings. Unfortunately, the school's website had no more information than the emails they had sent out, and the police department's website did not even mention the shootings. In fact, as of last night, the website had not even been updated since November 21, 2006.
